The Importance of Southeastern Mushrooms in Maintaining and Restoring Health
This class will approach the use of mushrooms from a traditional southeastern perspective on their value as nutrition and spiritual allies in the maintenance and restoration of all aspects of personal and community healthy systems. We will look at which mushrooms have been central to our food systems and ceremonies and how they are identified, collected prepared and consumed by individuals, families and communities. We will also look at the stories and traditions that have evolved around fungi and how they have been passed down to serve us as a community today. Topics such as anti-inflammatory properties, support for asthma, anti-oxidants and longevity relationships, anti-tumor properties antimicrobial activity and general contributions to stamina and peaceful wellbeing will be addressed.
