Michel Francois’s 2020 Florida Herbal Conference classes:
Vitamin D: Hormone, Vitamin & Sunlight
We hear about the benefits of mindfulness all the time. But what about body-fullness, or body-presence? What about attention to our sensory experiences, and to the information we receive from within our own bodies? This class will investigate the ways embodiment, that is, our experiential existence as thinking, feeling bodies, can lead to greater self knowledge, as well as enhance our ability to connect out with others, including plants. Books and scientific research and data are wonderful resources within the practice of herbalism, and there is also another crucial aspect of learning from and working with plants: personal, experiential relationship. Connecting with herbs on an individual level can in turn deepen our experience of our own bodies’ wisdom. This class will provide tips, tools and exercises for connecting in with our own embodiment and outward with the plants, with the aim of bringing us into deeper relationship with the green and more-than-human ecology around us.
Adaptogenic Herbal Medicines
We have very active and busy lives due to family, children, work, social, health, technology and many other factors. Adaptogenic herbal medicines are plants that assist us in dealing with short and long term stressful situations of modern life. Stress has an intrinsic relationship with our overall health. These medicines assist the entire body to be more normal, more balance, strengthen the immune system and aid the body to fight disease.
These medicinal herbs from the Chinese, Ayurvedic and Western Herbal traditions are one natural option to address fatigue, improve longevity and the changes of growing old. They have the natural ability to deal with anxiety, resist emotional and physical stress and protect us against the damage of free radicals causing deterioration and aging.
When these remedies enter the body, they adapt and go to the areas where they are needed, acting as preventative approaches to support one’s energy and better health.
